The Gospels: Applying What Jesus Teaches
Jesus teaches disciples precepts and principles of the God-honoring life He exemplified while in the world. The Lord shows Believers how to love God and neighbor, practice humility, live a sacrificial life, serve others, prioritize faith, and persevere through adversity. Christ prepares His representatives to enter the world and spread the Good News empowered by His Spirit, who lives in them. They learn to preach God’s Kingdom comes while emulating what Jesus embodied; trust in the Holy Spirit’s power to make more disciples while enduring humiliation, persecution, even death. The Lord teaches radical selflessness, spiritual wealth over material accumulation, forgiveness, and quiet service to His Chosen ambassadors.
Practical Application

“Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them He said: ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you’” Mark 5:1-12 ESV.

Love and Compassion: Jesus emphasized selfless love for neighbors and enemies alike. Practical application involves prioritizing the needs of others and acting with consistent kindness (Matt 22:39; Luke 6:27-35; John 13:12-14).

Forgiveness: Central to his healing ministry and ethical instructions is the message of forgiveness. Followers are taught to forgive others as a means of achieving inner peace and restoring relationships (Matt 9:2–8; Mark 2:5–12; Luke 5:20–26).

Integrity and Obedience: Living with honesty and relying on divine grace to obey spiritual commands are key to honoring Jesus' mission (John 4:24; 5:4-5; 13:34; 14:15, 8).

Service and Stewardship: Teachings often call for using unique talents, time, and resources to serve others and build a community of faith (Matt 25:14-30; Luke 19:11-27).

Jesus Commands Disciples to:

Repent
"From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.'" Matthew 4:17 ESV.
Follow Me
"And he said to them, 'Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men'" Matthew 4:19 ESV.
Rejoice
"Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you" Matthew 5:12 ESV.
Let Your Light Shine
"In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" Matthew 5:16 ESV.
Honor God’s Law
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven" Matthew 5:17-19 ESV.
Be Reconciled
"Leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison" Matthew 5:24-25 ESV.
Do Not Lust
"But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell" Matthew 5:28-30 ESV.
Keep Your Word
"Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil" Matthew 5:37 ESV.
Go the Second Mile
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you" Matthew 5:38-42 ESV.

"You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect" Matthew 5:48 ESV.
Give to the Needy
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. ‘Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you’” Matthew 6:1-4 ESV.
Pray
“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” Matthew 6:5-15 ESV.
Fast
“And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. Bring in the Poor
