Believer
Who is a Believer?
A born-again elected ambassador of Jesus Christ lives in the world while separated from it. “I have given them your Word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world” (John 17:4 ESV). Believers know they have received a special gift but lack understanding of it. During this stage of discipleship, men rejoice in God’s grace and seek to know Him, why He chose them, and what is going to happen next. A believer’s dominant characteristic is their lack of understanding. The question they want answered most is—“Why me?” Presuppositions about God, Scripture, and the Church, often accompany this stage of discipleship. Believers, filled with gratitude for the gift they received, need significant support, nurture, and teaching to establish the foundation on which the Lord’s precepts and principles get built. Their biggest challenge is forgetting what they believe they know and learning what Scripture teaches.
